Would You Test This? We Did. (+762% Revenue)

Set-it-and-forget-it agencies hate this one weird trick (called testing).

But enough about us. Let’s talk about some recent tests we ran for Project Repat and how you can apply them to your account today.

Project Repat is a cool-as-hell brand that turns old t-shirts into custom memory quilts made in the USA. Cozy. Sentimental. Profitable.

Test #1: Light vs. Dark Pop-Up

The original pop-up was pastel blue. Pretty, but blended in like wallpaper.

We flipped it.
Dark background. Punchier contrast. Bit of a ā€œwhoa, what’s that?ā€ moment.

Results:

  • Email Opt-in: 19.05% → 25.99%

  • SMS Opt-in: 13.95% → 19.29%

Let’s say you’ve got 5,000 visitors a day. That’s an extra:

  • +347 emails

  • +267 phone numbers

Not bad for a color swap.

Test #2: Image in Welcome SMS

MMS costs more. So lots of brands skip it, especially on their welcome flow.

But what if adding a single image to your Welcome SMS could:

  • Increase placed order rate by 417% šŸš€ 

  • Boost AOV by 67% šŸš€ 

  • Lift revenue per recipient by 762% šŸš€ 

That’s exactly what happened.

Same copy. Same offer. Just… added a photo.

Let that sink in.

Test #3: Subject Line FOMO Hits Different

The ā€œmake your quilt biggerā€ email needed help. So we rewrote it:

Control:
Subject: You probably have enough shirts to make your quilt bigger!
Preview: We can show you how to upgrade your panel size...

Variant:
Subject: 😬 Hey [FIRST_NAME], most people wish they went BIGGER... Will you?
Preview: Easy way to upsize—don’t regret it later!

Result:
+11% in placed orders
+11% in AOV
+15% in revenue per recipient

And now that better version runs forever. (Until a new test takes the crown. šŸ‘‘)

Test #4: Personalization That Matters

Control:
Subject: Add a custom embroidered message to your quilt?
Preview: Personalize your quilt with a custom message.

Variant:
Subject: Is your quilt missing a personal touch [FIRST_NAME|default:'that matters']?
Preview: Add a name, date, or special message—your quilt, your story! 🧵

We gave ideas, lowered the cognitive load, and made it personal.

Bonus tip: If you don’t have their name, the fallback text still makes emotional sense. That’s pro-level personalization.
